About Us
A friendly welcome is definitely assured at our family run bed and breakfast in Scalloway the Ancient Capital of Shetland
Windward is a warm and comfortable family home in a quiet location on the outskirts of the village of Scalloway with lovely views of the surrounding islands that lie to the South and West. We are situated about 1/2 a mile from the centre of the village. Local shops, swimming pool, gym, museum, restaurants and pubs are within walking distance and there is a bus stop a couple of minutes walk from the house.
Scalloway is located in the centre of the Shetland mainland and is an ideal base for exploring North, South, East or West. Due to its location, you get the best of both worlds when staying at Windward. You still have the peace and quiet of living in the outskirts of a village but are only 6 miles, a 10-15 minute bus or car journey away from Lerwick, Shetland's main town where you will find a wider choice of restaurants, craft shops, museums, bars, parks and much more.
There is car parking space outside the house and a garden where there is seating with nice views of the neighbouring islands.
Guests are welcome to use the family living room and conservatory. You may simply wish to look at the lovely view, sit and relax, do some reading, crafts or to socialise... the choice is yours! We have a selection of books about Shetland, Fishing, Wildlife, Travel and many other interesting topics for you to use during your stay.
Whether on business or vacation you'll be treated like a friend in a home away from home.

History of our B & B
We began as a family home with an open welcome for friends, family and many foreign exchange students in reciprocal agreements as our children had started travelling and we had free bedrooms to accommodate them. When our children moved to their own homes, we decided to extend the welcome and offer B& B accommodation to guests.
We have built a new conservatory which is used as the dining room and we refurbished and equipped the rooms to offer the best possible comfort to our visitors.
We offer a warm and sincere welcome to all our visitors whether new or returning and from all over the world!
